Where We Are
Turn left when leaving our property and we’re less than 800 meters from the beach, straight down Bay Road. Turn right and it’s only a short drive or nice walk into town.
Moonta Bay Accommodation is 169km from Adelaide and is a great place to stay and make your base to explore Yorke Peninsula.
Getting here is easy via self-drive or coach. Driving out of Adelaide head north to Port Wakefield and follow the signs to Moonta. It’s easy driving and no traffic lights. Yorke Peninsula Coaches operate regular services from the Adelaide Central Bus Station on Franklin Street to various towns throughout the York Peninsula including Moonta Bay. There is a separate inter-town bus route connecting towns in the southern part of the Peninsula so if travelling by coach it’s important to plan your trip carefully.
With stunning beaches and friendly coastal towns combined with a rich heritage of historic mining towns and spectacular national parks, York Peninsula has got it all.
Did you know you can drive from the top to the bottom of Yorke Peninsula in 2 and a half hours and its only 30 minutes from coast to coast.

Spring temperatures (September – November) Max 22.9°C, Min 9.8°C.
Summer temperatures (December – February) Max 29.5°C, Min 15.2°C, but daily temperatures can get as high as 44°C.
Autumn temperatures (March – May) Max 23.6°C, Min 11.2°C.

The Best of Moonta Bay
The Jetty Moonta Bay
An eye-catching L shaped Jetty. Walk, wander or jog along it. Throw in a line, catch squid or crabs off it. Enjoy the vista from it. Sit down and take some time to enjoy the serenity.
Moonta Bay Seawater Pool
A netted seawater pool is located just off the side of the long L-shaped jetty, perfect for swimming in the crystal-clear water.

Beautiful pristine family friendly beaches. Sit and breathe, build sandcastles, play ball games, spend your time kayaking, wind surfing, snorkelling, swimming or jet skiing, take your pick. If you’ve got the gear, we’ve got the beach!
Splash Town
During summertime and right through to the end of Easter, Splash Town, Moonta Bays free water park, provides families with fantastic entertainment with racer slides, water mushrooms and wading pools. When it’s time for the kids to get out of the water, whether it be the sea or the water park, beach-side playgrounds and miles of clean rich sand keep those happy feet playing and entertained.
Moonta Bay Café/General Store and Restaurant
If you want to change the pace from relaxed home cooked BBQ’s then Moonta Bay has a great restaurant, Pier 22 overlooks the beach. A Café/General Store is also just up from the beach, adjacent Splash Town ready with your coffee fix, ice-creams, hot chips, general supplies and more.
Walk the York
Moonta Bay is a popular walk for all ages and it’s an end point to Walk the Yorke, walks along the beach to Port Hughes and further along South Beach. Back To Top

Moonta has a bank ATM, supermarket, post office, chemist, health professionals including doctors and a dentist. The town boasts a number of shops including boutique stores, home-wares and hardware, antique and collectables, 3 pubs, real estate agents plus a great selection of cafes and restaurants. Many of these retail and dining outlets are open 7 days.
Down the road, Port Hughes Tavern is right next to another General Store, Takeaway and Post Office Agent. The Port Hughes Boat Ramp is adjacent to the Port Hughes Tavern.
